Because the country starts are Anglo-Saxon and doesn't convert.īoth are suprisingly addictive and proper grand strategies. But to do so, you need to get a mixture of Norse with either Breton/Occi/Frank family and pop the event of cultural change. Then are mechanics changes, cosmetics DLCs.Īnd CK2 is bit more complex than it seems.įor example to trigger the melting pot event to make the English culture in Britain, from before the 1066 start (base game) you have to be Norman. Republics, if you want to play as a wealthy merchant (and for all it's faults my favourite game). Raja's if you want to play in India (very interesting game)

Sword of Islam, if you want to play as Muslim If you plan to do so on CK2, there are only three DLCs that would call good to have.Ĭarlemagne so you can start at year 769 (earliest start), which is a very interesting and random game. Both are vast games, and you do not 'need' any DLCs to burn the next few hundred hours. I have found CK2 more fun, but each on their own. However they are VERY different games also.ĬK2 is more of a dynasty game, while EU4 is more of empire game.
